Jobs
(has moved - RH column)

Hi everyone
Thought I should get something up and running before things got too busy or worse, I forget. There's been some good feedback about making job hunting hints available to us all so I'll keep doing it until you all say, enough! Got one comment which said that maybe I shouldn't be sharing so much info but, as I said in the first email, I'd much prefer it if one of us got the job than someone else. I think that makes sense.
I finally got a casual job at Frankston Library but don't know how many hours that will be yet. I'd like to get one more casual posi and that might be enough for me. I'm volunteering at Franskton Volunteer Resource Centre (it's a desk in the library) for one day a week, and I help out at the Caroline Chisolm Library in the city for 1/2 day each fortnight.

Would you like to share with the others what you are up to?

regards, Terry

  3. Congrats Terry! so u are at Frankston! thanks for taking time to make this blog and I am sure it will be useful to us all.

I am working on contract at Noble Park Secondary as Library Tech. The job is fab and I am happy here but I DO wish it was a permanent job as contract seems sort of unsettled. :(

I also think volunteering experience is important to find the first job, although it is REALLY hard to find volunteering opportunities too. most local libraries and schools do not take up volunteers due to "privacy issues"!! :P

anyway good luck everybody with the job hunting and Terry, keep up the good work. I will post any links to jobs I come across too.

  7. Hi Tez,
Congrats on the blog and your new job!
I am apparently suffering from Queensland-itis as I posted the details for the Moonee Valley jobs and then looked up and there they were already...
Hope this illness doesn't last too long :(

  8. Jan, very pleased to see you emailing before midnight! How was the big banana? Are they still gunning for anyone who supports Gillard?

  9. Cheeky sod! I'm still on holidays so I don't need to email after midnight. The Big Banana was sunny and warm and I had a great time. I got to catch up with some old motorcycling friends, some I hadn't seen for 20 years. We might have weathered on the outside but we were all essentially the same as ever. Kevin '07 didn't seem to be any more popular than Ms Gillard. It's Anna Bligh who's really on the nose with the locals. What was very funny was that they thought the Brumby government was competent - what a joke!
