Isn't It Obvious?
(by a US Lib Tech)

People can be a little "dense". When I worked in Circulation at the main library here, there was a HUGE sign over it that said simply "CIRCULATION". I mean this sucker was big! I can't tell you how many times people would walk up and ask where the circulation desk was!

"I actually had someone get irritated with me because I kept referring to "charging out" her book, when what she wanted to do was "check out" the book! I guess she thought I was going to run some current through it or something.

There was the person who got upset because I used the word "prioritize" and haughtily informed me that "priority" was not a verb.

Then there was the guy who came up to the circ. desk and wanted to know what had happened to the books he had hidden behind a drawer. Well, silly me, since he stashed them in my shelving area, I had found them and put them where they belonged (and someone immediately checked them out!). This guy had the nerve to get mad about it, so I had to inform him as tactfully as possible that the library considers the act of hiding books to be stealing. That REALLY got him mad"
